The wait is over, Basketball Wives fans! As previously posted, season five of Basketball Wives will premiere sometime in August but VH1 has now recently released the official airdate, as well as photos and a press release. Premiering Monday, August 19 at 10pm, the returning cast members for season five are Shaunie O’Neal, Evelyn Lozada, Suzie Ketcham, and Tami Roman. Tasha Marbury, wife of Stephon Marbury, joins this season as the only new cast member. According to press release:

VH1’s window into the world of women romantically linked to professional basketball players returns for a fifth season. This time around, “Basketball Wives” double dribbles both excitement and surprises, beginning with Evelyn Lozada’s first attempts at extinguishing the media flames surrounding the altercation with her now ex-husband. Back this season with their own passions and ambitions are Tami Roman, Suzie Ketcham and Shaunie O’Neal. New to the scene this season is Evelyn’s friend Tasha Marbury whose scandalous marriage of seventeen years to Stephon Marbury of the Beijing Ducks has the rest of the girls whispering. Season five also witnesses the return of a notorious wife from seasons past, a confrontation with a woman whose alleged relationship with a player puts one of the wives in an uncomfortable position, and another unforgettable turmoil-filled girls’ trip to London. “Basketball Wives” Season five is set to premiere August 19 at 10PM ET/PT.

Recently, O’Neal did a video interview with where she basically tells Chris Witherspoon that there is going to be a lot of positivity in the new season but, ofcourse, still some drama. During the video, there is footage from season five and from what I saw, there’s definitely a good amount of drama. I saw some tension between O’Neal and Marbury, as well as a confrontation between Marbury and Ketcham. Ofcourse, there are scenes of Lozada and her in tears over the unfortunate altercation with her ex-husband Chad Ochocinco. Nonetheless, I think season five of Basketball Wives will be good but I just still cannot believe that there is still crazy drama with just only FIVE cast members. You can check out the video interview below, as well as view pictures of the season five cast.
