Kandi & Marvin Sapp “Stay Prayed Up” with Gospel song

Yep, this blog post is about Kandi from Bravo‘s The Real Housewives of Atlanta singing a gospel song! If any of you religiously watch The Real Housewives then you know that the former member of the 90’s girl group Xscape and Gospel music singer/song-writer Marvin Sapp recorded a gospel song, which was shown on the show. The song is called “Stay Prayed Up” and it recently went straight to number 1 on the Itunes Gospel chart. You can listen to the song below.

As a big fan of Kandi, I really love the new song. I know that some people are criticizing Kandi for recording a Gospel song since she has a sex toy line and a web show that focuses a lot on sex. Personally, I have no problem with it since a lot of artists have done this before. Missy Elliott recorded a Gospel song with the Clark Sisters, on her This Is Not A Test! album, called “I’m Not Perfect.” The song was very inspirational and a great song that, to me, proves Kandi shouldn’t be judged for doing a song of another genre when there are a bunch of other artists who have done and will continue to do the same. I also think that having Sapp on this song was great since I loved his 2008 hit “Never Would Have Made It.” I think him and Kandi have a huge hit on their hands with “Stay Prayed Up.”

Do you like the song?
